One Great Party Deserves Another

There are so many milestones to be celebrated this year, including mine. This month marks my 6th year with MITM, and what a ride it has been. On a personal level, what stands out the most is the 75th Birthday Party that Brad threw for me at Catalina Jazz Club. What a night it was. Performances by some of my very favorites; popular singer/trumpet player Rick Braun, popular jazz/standards singer Steve Tyrell, five-time Juno nominee jazz singer Carol Welsman, producer/singer Billy Vera, singer/actress/model Tamela D’Amico, jazz singer/pianist John Proulx, singer/actor Jonny Blu, singer/songwriter Tony DeSare and singer/bandleader Dave Damiani and Ron Jones and his band. One of the highlights for me personally was an opportunity to take the stage and sing a song, accompanied by John Proulx. Unfortunately too many alcoholic beverages denied me of my standing ovation…can you believe I started singing the wrong song? Poor John Proulx…but it all worked out and having the opportunity to take the Catalina Jazz stage was a thrill of a lifetime. Wonderful memories.
Now it’s time for more memories to be made. This September marks our 9th anniversary year on the air; but equally important this September 25th is Brad’s 60th birthday. All of the MITM team are in the process of making plans for a blowout celebration, equaling, if not surpassing, my 75th. We really did want to make his celebration a surprise but that is really impossible. However, we are going to try to keep him out of this loop of planning. I am sure that you will agree….who else deserves this celebration other than Brad? He’s kept our station on the air through rain, sleet and snow. Even when it was said by some to “just give up” he stood firm in his belief and we are still here, stronger than ever and so much closer to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. He’s introduced some artists that you now know and love, such as Anthony Strong, Matt Forbes, and Carrie McDowell, just to name a few. Without his insight you might never have heard of these people. You really can’t find this personal attachment to our audience on any other station!
Team September has so many wonderful plans in mind for that special weekend, Friday, September 25 through Monday, September 28th. Looking back to my 75th, people came in from all over the world to help us celebrate. So mark your calendars and come celebrate with us. Let’s call it a family reunion; after all, we are all family and how wonderful it would be to meet some of you in person.
