Jim Gorman from Ballwin, MO

jim-gorman-listening-to-mitmI first discovered MITM a little over 5 years ago. I was at work and wanted some back ground music, so I did a quick Internet search for the music of Dean Martin and the Rat Pack and stumbled on MITM. I was an instant fan. I later introduced my wife, Mary, to the station and we constantly have MITM playing at home. We both love Mother Miriam too. I especially like to check-in from a city with a provocative sounding name just to hear Mother Miriam lose it when Brad reads the weather from cities like Big Beaver, SK which is just south of Regina, SK. She never disappoints.

Building something from the ground up like Brad Martini Chambers has done is commendable indeed. His passion and vision for MITM is a testament to his hard work and sacrifice over the past decade. A decade of dedication and devotion to keep the coolest and swingingest music playing for everyone everywhere.

Thank you Brad! LONG LIVE THE MARTINI!!!

I started listen to Martini the first day he was on because I kept trying to find music I liked and I have listened every day since. You’re the greatest. I don’t really care for your laugh. Feel sorry for Mother Miriam but I’m sure she can take care of herself. Keep up the good work and I will keep listening from 8AM to 6PM. Love you!

Raised in San Diego… so I love listening to you talk about what’s going on out there but most of all I love the music… nothing better … especially songs by the new artists… keep it up.

Bla-bla-bla I have so many memories with you 2, we could spend the day and perhaps even the night! You and your music were present in moments of joy, doubt, despair … and you always have to comfort us. WE all need you and MITM, you are The Best all Over The world and Earth. One day when we’ll go to Mars we’ll be happy too to have you our side. All that to say: You are essential to our well-being for all! WE love you, and continue like this!

September 22nd –

Brenda Tierney from Midleton, Cork, Ireland

As a family we have always embraced music of all kinds. You could say that music of many kinds is the soundtrack to our lives. My uncle Larry Cunningham was an Irish country singer who made the charts in the U.K. and recorded in Nashville and toured in the U.S.. I was brought up with country music from America developed my own love of pop music and later in the late 80s developed my own interest in the country music revival led by Randy Travis etc. However all through the years I was aware that my dad had a love of big band and swing music which I heard but didn’t pay much attention to. I would have known names like Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Al Bowly, Guy Lombardo, and of course, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. Dads record collection includes those named and much more.

One evening I watched an English TV station and a chat show hosted by Michael Parkinson and saw a young guy called Michael Buble being interviewed and then he sang and I was sold… I bought the albums went to see him in 2010 and 2013 in Dublin and suddenly there I was with these standards and asking my dad about them. Invariably he had the original song and the original artist and I was learning about another genre of music. I must say I also loved Buble’s treatment of pop songs and his original songs too.

About two years ago my dad bought a Roberts internet radio and we had great fun finding stations from all over the world. We saw the name Martini in the Morning tuned in and its been part of our lives ever since. The special blend of old and new appealed to us both and we have also loved finding new artists and buying their music e.g. Steve Tyrell, Michael Feinstein etc. We may tune in to other genres and stations but Martini remains a permanent fixture on our radios and smart phones. It now provides a lovely link between myself and my dad and we wouldn’t be without our daily shot of the Martini.

Happy Anniversary and thank you. We were so pleased that recent difficulties were resolved. Good health and here’s to many more years of Martini in the Morning… Slainte!! Memories are Made of This.

PS – I have been linedancing for a year and a half and just learned a dance to Michael Buble’s “All I Do is Dream of You” and was able to tell my class about the music. Good music never dates and unites us all. Martini anyone ? Ha ha

I started listening to Brad and Daisy Torme’s show on 1360 KPOP while I was at work. I loved listening to the great music, the stories, (especially those that Daisy shared about her father, Mel – love my Mel!) and the interviews with all the great artists. I felt like we were a family then and was so disappointed when the show was taken off the air. I kept in touch as often as I could via the internet but could not listen while at work anymore as we were not allowed to use the internet for music. Fast forward to last year when I got a new job and was finally able to listen to MITM DAILY again! I love you guys and so appreciate the effort you have made to stay on the air and bring this great music to your appreciative audience/family. Here’s to many, many more years!

September 20th –

Amy Thompson from North Hampton, NH

Happy 10th Anniversary! I found MITM almost 7 years ago while noodling around iTunes. I used to listen to The Music Of Your Life on AM radio at my previous workplace – somewhat to the consternation of my employer… but I and my clients loved the music, and the classy environment it created! Once I opened my own shop, and found that I had neither radio signal nor was MOYL still locally available even if I HAD a signal… well, I started looking to the Internet.

Lounge Lizards in Exile? Brad’s voice? Oh yes – I was hooked! There are the standards, done even by modern artists. There is Mother Miriam to add to the fun and repartee. And there is the general eccentricity – of Brad and Miriam, yes haha – but also in the refreshing feel of old songs in a new medium. Oh boy you hit all of my sweet spots. And the clients STILL love it!

I am honored to be part of such a wonderful family, scattered around the world. And it is indeed a family, one that I hope will grow exponentially in the next ten years! Everyone should know what a joy you bring and are. Doing what I can to help that. Thank you for pursuing your passion and sharing it with all of us.

I discovered your station, when my wife and I lived in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I have loved this music since I was a small child, and my love was fostered by my late father. Not to mention that I have a close family friend, who has been performing standards from the American Songbook for fifty years, herself. I sincerely hope that you can regain your broadcast rights and get back to streaming the music that I love so dearly. Keep up the good work!

Abi Johnson from West Hagley, Worcestershire, United Kingdom

I started listening to MITM about 5 years ago when I got my first internet radio – within a week, when I was in the house alone, I had to have the radio tuned in as I felt I had friends with me – you have made me laugh and cry – and sometimes cry with laughter – thank you for the music that charts my life and the love you send out to your listeners. xxxx

Sometimes I think I sound like a “broken record”. There just isn’t any other radio station like MITM. As I always say, Brad and Miriam make me feel like we are old friends and we are not. It has been my privilege to attend a couple of the intimate concerts . Twice I’ve gone up to Brad and Miriam and introduced myself, I don’t expect them to remember me but they do, somehow. Poor Brad and Miriam! They are always warm and welcoming when you see them in person… The way Brad presents the music, his “down to earth” style and knowledge of everything he plays on the air makes you want to come back and listen more often.

We cannot let this music die, any other station I’ve listened to is very impersonal – blah. The Great American Songbook is a part of our history, where we came from, and because of the new artists interpreting the old music in their own style, the music is new again.

I listened to the old station Brad was on and followed him here and I am happy I did. MITM plays all day on my computer at work and on the weekends. Tomorrow I am going on vacation and when I get to Johnstown, PA and Cape May, NJ I will listen on my phone.

Good Luck to Brad and Miriam.

shellWhere do I start. I have been a part of the Martini family from the start 10 years ago. I was listening to Brad every morning on my way to work on Los Angeles radio. Through this I discovered a fabulous singer named Steve Tyrell. I just loved his voice. One of my favorite songs was “The Way You Look Tonight.” Well, I fell in love with his version. I went out that day I went to Tower records and bought all his CD’s that he had out at the time. I have met so many talented artists that put their own spin on these great songs. I received a email from Brad that he was starting an internet radio station. I was there from day 1. Well, I started chatting to other listeners and loved that we all had so much in common. This wonderful music. I have made some wonderful friends and now have some wonderful friendships with them. We meet up at different venues and hang out together. When my husband died 3 1/2 years ago, I couldn’t believe how many Martini in the morning listeners reached out to me. I received so many cards and I couldn’t believe it. Many of them I have never met but we are there for each other. Brad has always worked hard to keep this music going and I pray he keeps this going. He and his wife Karen are lovely people and I wish them the best always. Here’s to another 10 + years Brad.

Where to begin as there are so many wonderful memories of this fabulous station and family. I guess I am most happiest to have learned of MITM in the first place many, many years ago. In the time that I have been listening to MITM, the variety of artists that I have been pleasantly exposed to has been incredible. I never would have known there were so many current artists that also loved the classics ~ loved them enough to recreate them in their own special way. Thank you Brad and Miriam for 10 fabulously beautiful musical years. Cheers to another ten, plus. 🍸🍸

September 12th –

Pam Ginsburg from Sparks, NV

I became a Michael Buble’ fan in 2006 and joined a chat (forum) online soon after seeing him in concert, In Reno, NV. On these forums, I met some wonderful Buble’ fans and great women. I sure wish my memory would bring back the particular fan, but maybe you can help me. She was from So. Cal and had Buble’ on her license plate. She was the one who mentioned “MITM” because they played a lot of Michael Buble’ and some wonderful music. She also said she spent time in your studio volunteering to help get this station moving. I’ve lost contact, but maybe you still hear from her.

Anyway, we became fans of “MITM” and shared our enthusiasm with our friends. We’ve been listening almost since the beginning and have supported as much as we’ve been able to. I especially enjoy having Brad 🍸Chambers on my voice messaging, iPhone and land line. Everyone gets the biggest kick when leaving a message for me/us.

An appointment with the eye doctor was a kicker. After my exam and during the frames selection, I told the Tech that I wanted something that would make a statement. I wouldn’t allow myself to wear frames that were matronly. She said, “Well after hearing your voice mail message, I knew you weren’t going to be matronly”.

So, I do hope this great musical venue will survive for years to come, Congratulations on 10 Great Years.

September 11th –

Brian Standly from Hollywood, CA

My first day listening to Brad, he asked, “What do 69% of people do in the shower?” I called in with the right answer, “They urinate.” And won a Cole Porter CD. I still listen to my CD at least once a week.

Loads of Love, Huge Hugs and congratulations on 10 years.

September 10th –

Jon Tallman from Poland, OH

brad-jon-carolThanks to my wife! she was the one who discovered “The Lounge Sound” while searching Phoenix radio stations in 2009 and landed on KPHX which had just switched to Adult Standards. At the time Brad was even coming over to Phoenix for some of the broadcasts. Being our winter home when we left for the return to Ohio we made the switch to the internet have stayed there since. Sadly KPHX like so many broadcast stations made the change to talk, much to their loss. Eventually we made our way to LA in 2011 and to our happiness got to meet Brad, mother Miriam and Al at Vitello’s during the 2 Martini Lunch.

September 9th –

Lance Johnson from Hutto, TX

In the Summer of 2007 I was introduced to an internet radio station and a person that would significantly impact my life. At the time I was helping my Dad take care of my Mom who was in the final stages of cancer just outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I lived in Texas but took extended time off from work to stay with them and help during her last weeks on earth. She passed away while I held her hand. It was during this time where I started listening to MITM every day and getting re-introduced to the artists that I was raised on by my parents like Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, Tony Bennett and introduced to my now favorite artist, Michael Buble’ who we have seen live 3 times. Two days before my Mom passed away, my then girlfriend, Janet flew into town. I proposed, she said yes and Mom gave us her blessing. She passed away but the story would continue. It was bittersweet to say the least…

Just a few short months later, my Dad would be diagnosed with cancer. My all too familiar journey would begin again by flying back to Louisiana and taking care of him. Martini in the Morning would once again fill my days and nights. Not only was the music soothing, but so were the now familiar voices of Brad, Michelle, Miriam and the rest of the MITM family, including Steve Tyrell, who my wife and I met during one of hislance-janet08 shows here in Austin. It’s amazing how such sadness can also bring so much joy to a person. The connection I had with Brad is still here today. The Check-ins, the requests, the contests, the stories, the occasional emails and social media posts… all gave me and continue to give me a warm feeling and connection. Dad would fight the good fight with everything he had. Janet and I decided to move up our wedding to February of 2008 so that he could be there. We kept it small and intimate and hired a piano player who I asked to only play artists that are played on MITM. Our wedding song and theme of our life is “The Best is Yet to Come” (the Buble’ version, of course…). I kept Brad updated on the progress of my Dad’s health and our wedding and he would share it with his audience. It was perfect and we will be celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary in February. She is my rock and my world, along with our 6 daughters, of course.

Dad would ultimately pass away in March of 2009 with his hand in mine. When he was diagnosed the doctors gave him 3 months to live. He fought it for 16 months and gave me and my family some wonderful times and memories. And Martini in the Morning was there every step of the way. It was a difficult 2 year period in my life but the music and on-air the voices gave me comfort and a sense of family.

Brad Martini and the Martini in the Morning family are now permanent fixtures in my life. I help financially when I can because this music and this station mean so much to me. If I could write a million dollar check to you Brad, I would. That’s how much he and this music mean to me. Brad, once you responded to an I email I sent you and addressed me and Janet as “friends I’ve never met”. I hope that changes someday soon. I told you in that email that meeting you is on my bucket list. I meant it.

September 8th –

Ray Zacher from West Chester, OH

I discovered MITM on August 1st, 2008 at work one day. I was looking for something worth listening to on iTunes, but wasn’t interested in rock ‘n’ roll oldies. I didn’t want to hear old big band records either, but for over 25 years, I was looking for something that was performed in the traditional way but by contemporary artists.

Well, while looking at the list of internet radio stations, I came across something that grabbed my attention: “Martini in the Morning”. Hmm… this looks interesting, so I clicked on it and the very first song I heard was “Come Fly With Me” by Michael Buble’! THIS was the kind of music I have been searching for since 1982!

ZacherI have never been so much of a fan of a radio station for this length of time in my life, and having passed the 8 year mark as an MITM listener and supporter, I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon! Brad, Michelle, Miriam, John, Harry and everyone else that has an on-air presence is to be commended for the classy work they do and keeping this style of big band, jazz and traditional pop alive.

Thank you also goes to the loyal supporters and fans of MITM around the world for the work they do.

My work area is known as the “martini lounge” because of having MITM on all day at work, and my work partner also enjoys the music as well. When I get home and on weekends, MITM is always playing on our WiFi radio.

Thanks, Brad, for all you do, and thanks to all the “involuntary volunteers” for your help and support! Happy 10th anniversary! The photo was taken in 2011 when Carol and I visited the MITM studio.

September 7th –

Tina Wilson from Irvine, CA:

Martini In The Morning is so much more than just the music that is played although it is my favorite type of music and means a lot. I first began tina-and-donovan-sitting-09-12listening to Martini in the Morning about a year before my divorce was final, and every day at breakfast, hearing Brad’s friendly voice made me feel much better than I would have under those difficult circumstances if the station was not in existence. I have wonderful memories of listening to Brad and Daisy Torme who was his co-host when I first began listening, and thank you Brad, for putting a smile on my face when I didn’t feel like smiling. Now that I have gotten to know Mother Miriam, who I absolutely love, and other listeners of Martini In The Morning, new memories are being made. Somehow, the world doesn’t seem so chaotic when you feel the love that I have felt from MITM on a daily basis. I’m attaching a photo of my guide dog Donovan and I, and Donovan also listens regularly and has made his own memories, I’m sure. That would take another post. Happy 10th anniversary!

September 6th –

Bryan Duff from Thousand Oaks, CA:

So many fond memories. I was originally one of those KLAC then 690 listeners on Los Angeles radio. When the station was cut, Brad asked for everyone’s email and that he’d get in touch with us at a later date. Sure enough, Brad got the idea to start up Martini In The Morning on the internet.
Steve TyrellI was happy to get the email that the new station was started and then became a loyal listener. I love waking up and starting off the day with the music and banter. The weekends are great, doing yard work is much more pleasant with my Bose portable speaker outside playing the great tunes and our weekend friends/presenters.

Early on in the new station’s life, I heard Brad interview Carol Welsman and she was having a show in Van Nuys by the airport. I had never gone to club to hear anyone one before, so I said to my wife Rayanne, wanna go? We showed up there and I was surprised how relatable and approachable the singers are at these shows. Carol was placing cards on everyone’s tables. Later, Brad and Karen and his posse came in and sat up close to the stage. I said to Rayanne, hey that’s Brad Chambers. I have to admit, I was a little star struck – lol. I work in the film business and have worked with big stars over the years and am never star struck. But I was nervous when Rayanne said to go say hi to them.I eventually did, and Brad was so great. He was so overly appreciative that we came to the show. He mentioned that he was happy that his station could get people to come. I felt like we were the ones that needeSteve Tyrell 2d to feel the appreciation. Carol was great and got us hooked on going to these shows.

Now we go to as many of the shows as my work schedule will allow. I love seeing the other listeners at the shows. After 10 years, we have met so many folks from all over the world. That is so cool I have friends in the U.K. and many here in the L.A. area. The pictures I posted are from one of those shows from this year. Steve Tyrell sometimes does a free concert in the park in Camarillo. As always, it was amazing.

Keep spinning those great tunes Brad for many more years. We all love you guys.
